Folsom’s fire chief is retiring at year’s end.
Ron Phillips, who has been the Fire Department’s chief for six years, will be replaced on an interim basis by Dan Haverty, who was Folsom’s chief from 2007 to 2010. Recruiting for a permanent chief is under way.
Before being named chief in 2010, Phillips served as Folsom’s fire marshal and deputy fire chief, beginning in 2002. When he retires Dec. 30, Phillips will have completed 35 years of fire service in California.
Haverty, a 30-year fire service veteran, also has served as interim fire chief for Sacramento and Lodi. He worked for Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District for 20 years.
