Sacramento police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on 14th Avenue, east of Stockton Boulevard, near the Tahoe Park neighborhood.
Police received a report at 8:11 p.m. of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Sgt. Bryce Heinlein, police spokesman, said officers arrived and found a man who had been crossing 14th Avenue when he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle traveling east on 14th Avenue from Stockton Boulevard. Heinlein said the victim was not in a marked crosswalk.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
