An Elk Grove man has been arrested on a charge of sex trafficking involving a child.
A federal grand jury in Sacramento returned a sealed indictment June 8 against 25-year-old Abdul Basier Hashimi, charging him with one count of sex trafficking of children, according to a US. Attorney’s Office news release. The indictment was unsealed Wednesday following his arrest.
Between August and November 2014, Hashimi allegedly recruited, harbored, transported and advertised a minor, knowing that the minor would be engaged in prostitution, the news release said.
The case resulted from a investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento Police Department.
