Two men have been arrested in connection with an early Sunday morning attack in North Sacramento that sent a woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Armando Pachicano, 19, and Eduardo Cortes, 20, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, according to a Sacramento Police Department news release.
Police received a 911 call about 1:14 a.m. Sunday reporting that a woman had been assaulted. Further reports indicated sounds of screaming near the 2200 block of Grove Avenue.
Several officers responded and found the victim, a 23-year-old woman, suffering from serious injuries as a result of a domestic violence incident. Paramedics transported her to an area hospital where she remained Monday. Detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene due to the seriousness of the woman’s injuries, police said.
Cortes was detained by responding officers after a short foot pursuit and was subsequently booked for his alleged role in the assault.
During a preliminary investigation that included interviewing numerous witnesses, detectives identified Pachicano as an additional suspect. He was located later Sunday in North Sacramento and booked into Sacramento County Jail.
