Auburn-area CHP officers will be out in force this weekend as part of a motorcycle safety enforcement operation.
Additional officers will deployed to monitor motorcyclists and other motorists for unsafe speed, following too close, unsafe lane changes, improper turning and other violations that often result in collisions, according to a CHP news release. The stepped-up enforcement is scheduled Friday through Sunday.
The CHP received a federally funded grant, titled “Have a Good Ride III,” to assist the traffic safety effort, and other motorcycle safety enforcement operations are planned through Sept. 30.
Statistical data for January through December 2015 revealed that 62 injury traffic collisions involving motorcycles and two fatal collisions involving motorcycles occurred in the CHP Auburn Area’s jurisdiction, the news release said.
