Q: I’m seeking follow-up information regarding the charges against Scot Sequeira, arrested for the murder of Matthew Caquelin in 2015.
A: Scot Douglas Sequeira, 30, is charged with murder in the death of 26-year-old Matthew Caquelin, whose body was found Nov. 25, 2015, in a field near Sacramento International Airport.
Sequeira’s trial is set to start Monday, according to Sacramento Superior Court records available online.
A work crew was driving by a field near West Elverta Road, east of Metro Air Parkway, when they spotted Caquelin’s body, according to stories in The Sacramento Bee. Caquelin had been shot several times in the torso.
Sequeira, a resident of Sacramento and Newman, in Stanislaus County, was arrested in Newman on Dec. 16, 2015. Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said at the time that detectives believed the two men knew each other, but they did not know why they were in the rural area where Caquelin’s body was found.
