A 37-year-old man was killed outside a house party early Sunday morning in south Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s department.
Deputies got a call about a man shot at 12:15 a.m. from the 7500 block of Cottontree Way. When they arrived on the scene, the victim was in the front yard of the house that had hosted the party, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, a department press release said. They began life-saving measures and Sacramento Metro Fire personnel transported the man to a local hospital, where he died.
After some investigation, deputies learned that several partyers had gotten into an argument and had been asked to leave. A few minutes later, shots were fired from a light-colored sedan and struck the victim. The car sped off south down Renton Way, the press release said.
The victim’s identity will be released after his next-of-kin have been reached.
