Federal marshals were instrumental in the apprehension of a man in Sacramento who was wanted in a Florida home invasion murder.
In December, a man named Jonathan Jeffery was in his condominium in Sarasota County when four men barged in and took cash, cellphones and a video game console. They then shot Jeffery in the back of the head as they left.
The Sheriff’s Department enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Service to find Aenri J. Ellis, 29, of Clearwater, Fla., who was believed to have fled to California after the killing. Ellis, also known as “Kali King,” was taken into custody over the weekend in Oak Park.
He was booked into Sacramento County jail, prior to extradition to Florida. The Sacramento County Probation Department officers were also part of a task force that located and arrested Ellis.
Ellis is charged with second-degree homicide and home invasion robbery with a firearm, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office press release. Ellis is the seventh person arrested in the homicide.
