Q: What is the latest news regarding the Oct. 3 arrest in Rancho Cordova of Brittney Hall and Thomas Price?
A: Brittney Hall and Thomas Woodrow Price were arrested in October at the Hyatt Place hotel in Rancho Cordova, in a room that Rancho Cordova police described as “littered with drugs.”
According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, police went to the hotel after receiving a call from a man who asked that they check on his girlfriend, who was in a hotel room with a man. The boyfriend supplied the names of Price and Hall.
Officers knocked on the door of the room and were told to wait by a man inside. After a minute or two, Price opened the door and officers told him they were there to check on the 21-year-old Hall. They found her passed out on the bed.
Officers eventually were able to rouse her. They reported finding prescription medication and illegal drugs, including heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine in the room. Both Price and Hall were arrested on drug charges.
Price, who had celebrated his 54th birthday the night before his arrest, quickly resigned as principal of the Branson School in the Marin County community of Ross.
According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, Price pleaded no contest April 2 to two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to three years probation. He has a May 1 court date to show proof of enrollment in a drug diversion program under Proposition 36, California’s Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act.
Online court records show Hall’s next court date, for a settlement conference, is May 5.
