A 78-year-old woman died after being hit by a car Monday evening in south Sacramento.
Sacramento resident Consuelo Duenas was walking with one other pedestrian near 24th Street and Encinal Avenue about 5:40 p.m. when she was struck by a Subaru, according to Officer Eddie Macaulay, Sacramento Police Department spokesman.
Duenas was pronounced dead at the scene. The Subaru driver, who was not under the influence, remained behind and cooperated with police, Macaulay said.
