UC Davis officials announced that anyone interested in being notified of campus-related emergencies can now sign up to receive text-message alerts.
In the past, the the campus emergency notification system was available only to students, faculty and staff members with UC Davis email accounts. The expansion of the service to the community at large is one of two features UC Davis gained when it changed vendors for its WarnMe and Aggie Alert emergency alerts. Later this quarter, the campus plans to introduce a new mobile app for personal safety, according to a UCD news release.
The WarnMe system is intended to provide subscribers with timely information and instructions during emergencies.
“With the community registration for UC Davis WarnMe and Aggie Alert, we can notify parents, vendors and visitors of campus emergencies,” Jill Parker, associate vice chancellor for safety services, said in a written statement.
