Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Arden Arcade, the California Highway Patrol reports.
About 9:30 p.m., the CHP received reports of the crash at the intersection of Watt and Northrop avenues.
A Kia Optima was heading northbound on Watt Avenue and a Chevy Silverado was traveling southbound on Watt when the Optima driver made a left turn onto Northrop Avenue, directly into the path of the Silverado, the CHP said in a news release.
The two vehicles collided, resulting in three people sustaining fatal injuries and two others suffering major injuries, all within the Optima, according to the CHP.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
The driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash, the CHP said.
