A man wanted in a stabbing incident Friday morning in south Sacramento was taken into custody hours later after leading authorities on a pursuit that led to an Arden Arcade residence, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Shaun Hampton, Sheriff’s Department spokesman, provided these details:
Just after 10:30 a.m., there was a stabbing reported on Gardner Avenue in south Sacramento. Deputies arrived and the suspect fled in a vehicle. The stabbing victim sustained injuries that were not life threatening.
A while later, north-area sheriff’s deputies tried to execute a traffic stop for an unrelated reason on the suspect’s vehicle on Arden Way. The suspect didn’t yield and led authorities on a pursuit, which was called off for safety reasons.
A while later, an attempted carjacking was reported in the 2000 block of Howe Avenue, near Home Depot. A short time later, an attempted bike theft was was reported in the same area by the same suspect.
An investigation led authorities to the intersection of Ethan and Ernest ways, where a foot pursuit took place involving officers and a K-9 unit, with the assistance of a California Highway Patrol air unit.
The suspect was found at an Ernest Way house, where two children escaped unharmed through a back window.
The suspect, a 24-year-old Hispanic man, was then taken into custody. His name was not yet released.
