An investigation has begun into the death of a man El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies tried to arrest Thursday morning in Pollock Pines.
Deputies were called to the 6000 block of Pony Express Trail at about 4:30 a.m. on a report of a suspicious man in the area.
They found a man in his 60s inside a vehicle that he did not own. While placing him under arrest, he started to have “medical issues,” according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. He was said to be uncooperative when deputies tried to arrest him.
Medical personnel were called and he was taken to Marshall Hospital. He later died at the hospital.
According to standard procedure, the man’s death is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office and other agencies. The man’s name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.
