A multi-vehicle crash occurred along Highway 50 Tuesday morning when a driver suffered a seizure and his passenger tried to steer their SUV away from trouble.
The crash occurred at Highway 50 and the Howe Avenue offramp about 7 a.m. Tuesday when the driver suffered a seizure on the highway. The passenger gained control of the vehicle, steering it onto the offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
However, she was not able to apply the brakes, leading to the SUV crashing at about 60 mph into vehicles stopped on the offramp. A car traveling on Howe Avenue also collided with one vehicle that was pushed into its path from the ramp.
The SUV eventually overturned. The driver, the passenger who tried to steer the SUV out of harm’s way and an 11-month-old child were taken to a hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
