Eight people were displaced Monday night after a fire broke out at an Arden Arcade apartment complex.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sacramento Metro Fire was dispatched to the Tuscana Court apartments, 2807 Elvyra way.
“When we arrived, the first and second floors were engulfed in flames,” said Jon Rudnicki, spokesman for the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
It took 31 firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the blaze, which damaged eight units. It was not known today what the damage costs were, but firefighters estimated that they saved $650,000 in property value
The apartment complex, which has a number of vacant units, and the local chapter of the American Red Cross, helped the eight displaced residents find shelter for the night, according to Rudnicki.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. It was unknown if the apartment complex is equipped with sprinklers or smoke alarms.
