An Oxnard man was arrested by Placer County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly left his 5-year-old son in his car for more than three hours while he gambled at the Thunder Valley Casino.
Don V. Vo, 42, was booked at Placer County Jail on suspicion of child endangerment following his arrest Tuesday morning, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. Sheriff’s officials said a woman and her husband who were returning to their car about 4:30 a.m. found the barefoot boy. The woman told deputies that the youngster was crying and scared, and was yelling for his father.
Sheriff’s officials said video from the casino show that Vo left his car at 1:50 a.m., leaving the child behind. He gambled until security officers found him in the casino at 4:45 a.m. He was taken to the security office, where he was interviewed by deputies.
The boy was released to Child Protective Services.
