A teenage girl was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident Wednesday night in south Sacramento.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office identified the victim Thursday as Ausha Holly, 17, of Sacramento. She was a junior at Rio Cazadero High School who had transfered from Valley High School, said Elizabeth Graswich, Elk Grove Unified School District spokeswoman.

At 7:42 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a call of an auto-pedestrian accident on Mack Road near Summersdale Way.

A newer model sedan, going westbound on Mack Road, apparently struck Holly, who was in the middle of the roadway.

“There was no indication the pedestrian was within a crosswalk,” said Doug Morse, a spokesman for Sacramento police.

The driver stopped after the collision. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Sacramento police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident, which was witnessed by a number of people.

It was not known Thursday if Holly lived nearby. Mack Road cuts through a residential neighborhood in that area.
