A pickup truck struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday night on Bradshaw Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. on Bradshaw Road, south of Oates Drive. A 2000 GMC Sierra truck driven by Kenneth Palmer allegedly plowed through the number three lane, killing a 33-year-old woman who was crossing the street, authorities said. The woman has not been identified.

Palmer, 53, of Oakley made a U-turn and returned to the scene to wait for law enforcement. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into Sacramento County Jail on a misdemeanor DUI.

As of Friday morning, Palmer had been released, jail records show.
