Police seek to identify a man involved in an attempted sexual assault Tuesday night in Davis.

The incident reportedly occurred about 9:40 p.m. near Mace Boulevard and El Macero Drive in south Davis. A man grabbed the female victim around her waist with one arm, covered her mouth with his other hand and tried to drag her toward the lawn of a nearby residence, according to a Police Department news release. The victim was able to free herself after a short struggle, and the man ran away.

The man was described as white or Latino, in his late 20s to mid 30s, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with a medium build. He reportedly had sideburns and a mustache, and was wearing a zip-up, hooded sweat shirt and long pants.

Police said the incident does not appear to be related to an attempted sexual assault that occurred Oct. 28 in the 600 block of Alvarado Avenue.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Davis Police Department at (530) 747-5400.
