The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Activities League will be giving out free turkeys to families of teens who show up to shoot some hoops at a Friday night event in Oak Park.
The turkeys will be available at the Friday Night Hoops event, to be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dr. Emphraim Williams Family Life Center, 4036 14th Avenue in Sacramento.
The event, in which sheriff’s deputies coach and play basketball with area youths, is open to young people between the ages of 8 and 16 years old. The Sheriff’s Activities League and Family Life Center officials created the program to help build relationships between law enforcement and the community while also giving youths a safe place to spend time.
Anyone with questions can call Sacramento County sheriff’s Sgt. Cary Trzcinski at (916) 627-5606 or Charles Doss, manager of the gym, at (916) 320-7972.
