Sacramento County Coroner’s deputies have released the name of the motorist who died at UC Davis Medical Center after being involved in a crash near the Tower Bridge in West Sacramento on Saturday.
Gregory Allen Armitage, 63, of Fair Oaks was driving eastbound on Tower Bridge Gateway toward the 5th Street intersection about 10:50 a.m. Saturday.
At a point where the road curves slightly to the south, his minivan veered off the road and into an overpass pillar, said Lt. Tod Sockman of the West Sacramento Police Department.
Armitage was the only occupant. No other vehicles were involved.
West Sacramento Fire Department personnel had to use cutting and prying tools to remove Armitage from his minivan.
