Sacramento marathon to bring road closures

The California Highway Patrol is advising motorists that the Sunday running of the California International Marathon will mostly preclude any traffic on the course that begins at Folsom Dam and ends at the state Capitol.
The CHP advises in a press release that motorists should cross the course route before closures or find another route.
The CHP will be handling traffic from the start to Howe Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard, where Sacramento police take over traffic duties. Marathon monitors will occasionally allow traffic to cross the course if there are large gaps between runners.
The finish line area around 8th, 9th, 10th streets and Capitol Mall will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to race organizers.
