Woodland police are looking for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint this morning as she opened her business.

Officers were dispatched about 10:38 a.m. to Cash for Gold at 78 W. Court St. regarding a report of an armed robbery. The victim, an employee of the business, told officers that she arrived for work shortly after 10:30 a.m. and was unlocking the front door when she felt someone grab her purse. The woman turned and saw a man she did not know brandishing a black handgun. The man demanded that she give him her purse and took it from her, according to a Police Department news release.

The purse reportedly contained an undisclosed amount of money and personal items.

The suspect was described as a male adult, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black, hooded sweat shirt and scarf, which concealed his identity. Witnesses told police they last saw the man running eastbound on West Elliott Street.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 661-7800. Callers can remain anonymous.
