A motorist was killed Wednesday after he crashed on Interstate 80 near Madison Avenue and got out of his car.
The California Highway Patrol said the 36-year-old man from Oakland was driving his Toyota Camry on eastbound Interstate 80 west of Madison Avenue about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday when his car struck the rear of a big rig.
The car then traveled into the center divider where it struck a concrete wall. The driver then got out of his car and began to cross the freeway toward the right shoulder.
The man was struck by four vehicles and died at the scene from his injuries.
His identification was not released pending notification of relatives.
