Two people have died in a head-on collision on Sunset Boulevard west of Rocklin.
CHP spokesman Officer David Martinez said the crash occurred about 5:15 p.m. three miles west of Fiddyment Road. Witnesses told investigators that before the collision a silver Toyota Camry was eastbound on Sunset Boulevard at a high speed, unsafely passing other vehicles.
As the Toyota came to a crest in the road, it again passed a vehicle, despite the double yellow line that indicates passing is prohibited, Martinez said. As it was passing, the Toyota collided head-on with a white Infiniti G20 sedan.
Both drivers, the only occupants of the respective vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene. Martinez said both were males, but no further information regarding their identity or place of residence was available.
As of 7 p.m., Sunset Boulevard remained closed at the crash site, but Martinez said he expected to road to reopen soon.
