Teenager shot dead in south Sacramento

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an early morning shooting in south Sacramento that left one teenager dead.
The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. at a convenience store located in the 8000 block of Florin Road. Investigators believe the 19-year-old victim and his friends were involved in a confrontation with another group of males. Sheriff’s deputies received reports that shots were fired, striking the victim in the upper body.
The victim then drove a short distance to the intersection of Florin Road and Franklin Boulevard, where he was pronounced dead by first responders, authorities said. The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of family.
