An early morning house fire in Elk Grove has displaced five people, authorities said.
The blaze, in the 9600 block of Gamay Way, was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Friday. When firefighters from the Cosumnes Fire Department arrived, they found a “well-involved fire in an attached garage that extended into the attic,” according to a news release.
One resident awoke to the smell of smoke and alerted the other four occupants, officials said. All were evacuated safely.
Authorities put the damage at $150,000.
“Investigators are still working on a cause,” Cosumnes Fire Chief Tracey Hansen said.
