An Elk Grove resident was injured this afternoon in a house fire thought to have been sparked by a halogen light.
Cosumnes Fire Department crews responded to the 9300 block of Starfish Way about 1 p.m. and found a room and its contents on fire in the home.
The resident was able to get out of the house before firefighters arrived but sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to a Fire Department news release. No firefighters were injured.
Fire officials said investigators have determined the fire was caused by a halogen light that had been left on and that came into extended contact with a mattress.
Cosumnes firefighters were assisted by crews from the Sacramento Fire Department and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
