Andres “Junior” Valdez, 34, was fatally shot during a home invasion Sept. 9, 2004, and another man was wounded.
According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, two gunmen entered the home in the 5600 block of Ethel Way about 10:20 p.m. and opened fire. Valdez was taken to UC Davis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The second man, Johnny Gardia, 20, was also shot and seriously injured.
Valdez, a convicted drug dealer, had testified in the federal trial of a Sacramento drug kingpin, Vincent Jackson, earlier in the year. Jackson was sentenced to five life terms in federal prison, plus 240 years, for trafficking methamphetamine through Sacramento and the Bay Area for more than a decade.
Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said the suspects in the home invasion were described as a light-skinned African American man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with long thick braids, and another African American man, 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds, with a thin build.
