Sacramento police said Thursday that a missing 80-year-old man was found by a concerned citizen.
Mikhail Shambra had last been seen Tuesday when he walked away from his apartment complex in the 4000 block of Taylor Street in the early morning hours, according to police.
Shambra, who reportedly only speaks Russian, was considered “at risk” because he has been diagnosed with dementia and might become easily confused, police said.
A citizen who was unaware that police were looking for Shambra found the man in downtown Sacramento. He offered to drive him in search of his home.
The two eventually ended up in West Sacramento. Authorities were contacted by the citizen and West Sacramento police identified Shambra as the missing man. He was re-united with family.
