In the early 1990s, a young man from Rio Linda, was found dead along Garden Highway and the Sacramento River west of Interstate 5. Was that killing ever solved or any related arrests made?
The body of Allan Donald Rigsby, 24, of Rio Linda, was found Aug. 29, 1989, in a field in the 2400 block of Garden Highway.
According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, he had been shot several times and his body left in a clearing near the Sacramento River.
One of Rigsby’s roommates, Steven Paul Silver, 30, was arrested in January 1990 and charged with murder in Rigsby’s death. Sheriff’s officials said at the time that Rigsby had been arrested in Crater Lake, Ore., on unrelated charges and had with him a shotgun that was later linked to the Rigsby homicide.
According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, Silver entered a not-guilty plea in the Rigsby case and in September 1990, the charge against him was dismissed.
