The man who died Monday morning from gunshot wounds suffered at a south Sacramento apartment complex has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office.
He was identified as Alphonse Tholmer, 23, of Sacramento.
Sacramento police were called to the 7800 block of Center Parkway at about 3:45 a.m. Monday where a person had reportedly broken into an apartment. A gun was reported to be involved.
Officers responded and found Tholmer outside of an apartment in bushes who had been shot multiple times. Tholmer was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he died.
Officers spoke with two female occupants of the apartments before one of the women was transported to the hospital for a medical condition, a police spokeswoman said.
Detectives determined that Tholmer was the alleged intruder, but circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, police said.
