The second of two young women convicted in the death of a 20-year-old fellow passenger killed in a car crash three years ago was sentenced Friday in Sacramento Superior Court.
Judge Allen H. Sumner suspended the three-year state prison sentence he gave to LaDonna Torres and placed her on five years probation with a year in local custody for her felony conviction of leaving the scene of the May 29, 2011, 4:30 a.m. accident on Power Inn Road in Sacramento.
Torres was in the car in which Ivan Oscar Camero, 20, was killed. The driver of the car, Heile Gantan, also was convicted in the verdicts returned in September of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. In October, Sumner sentenced Gantan to five years in state prison.
