A Sonoma teen has been identified as the passenger killed in a violent wreck in the Natomas area.

The Sacramento County coroner’s office website lists the victim of the Tuesday morning crash as 18-year-old David Corona.

Sacramento police were dispatched to the scene of the crash about 6 a.m. Tuesday on Duckhorn Drive near Far Niente Way. Officers found a car that had hit a utility pole, causing heavy damage to the side of the vehicle.

Corona was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The man who was driving the car suffered serious injuries.

A police daily watch summary said that excessive speed is suspected as a factor is the crash.
