West Sacramento police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old boy in a car this afternoon.
Police have arrested the three teens who were in the car with him when a gun fired about 1 p.m., but they have not been cooperative, said police spokesman Lt. Tod Sockman.
Detectives suspect one of the teens – two boys and a girl, ages 16 and 17 – or the victim fired the gun, which was stolen, , Sockman said. Police are not seeking additional suspects.
The teens were arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and reckless discharge of a firearm, Sockman said.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is undergoing surgery. Sockman said the boy’s injuries do not appear life-threatening.
