A pedestrian was killed on an Arden Arcade street after being struck by a pickup driven by suspected drunken driver and then by another vehicle.
Alejandro Adams-Zuniga, 20, of Sacramento County, died at the scene Sunday night, a California Highway Patrol news release states.
Adams-Zuniga was walking on El Camino Avenue west of Morse Avenue about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when he stopped in the two-way left turn lane. At the same time, a pickup driven by Kyle Brennan, 20, of Sacramento was eastbound on El Camino Avenue at about 40 mph.
As he drove his pickup into the turn lane, Brennan failed to see Adams-Zuniga, the CHP release states. The pickup struck Adams-Zuniga, throwing him into a westbound lane of El Camino Avenue, where another car hit the victim. Rain was falling at the time of the incident, the CHP states.
