A man died Tuesday from injuries suffered in a car crash last week on Interstate 5 in South Sacramento.
Afredo Najar-Reyes, 23, of Stockton died at UC Davis Medical Center where he was transported on Friday afternoon after he was badly injured in the freeway accident.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Najar-Reyes was driving a pickup southbound on I-5, south of 43rd Avenue, that rainy day. He was traveling at about 65 mph when, according to witnesses, his vehicle appeared to speed up and his pickup fishtailed out of control.
The pickup hit a roadway sign and then struck a tree on the driver’s side. Reyes’ brother, the only other occupant in the pickup, suffered minor injuries.
