Sacramento police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Land Park this morning.
The driver of one car, a woman in her 60s, died after being transported to a local hospital. A passenger in her car also was transported to the hospital, as well as the driver of the other car, a man in his 50s, said police spokesman Officer Doug Morse. That driver has serious injuries, he said.
The collision occurred shortly before 11 a.m. The surviving driver was traveling northbound on Riverside Boulevard when his Mercedes-Benz collided with a Toyota sedan near 4th Avenue, Morse said.
Morse said the driver of the Mercedes was travelling at a high rate of speed. It is not yet known whether alcohol was a factor, he said.
