Rancho Cordova police ask the public’s help in identifying a man believed to have been involved in an attempted sexual assault.

The incident occurred Feb. 3 in the area of Mills Park Drive and Silverwood Way in Rancho Cordova.

At 10:50 a.m., a woman was walking to her gym when she was approached by a man she did not know. The man pulled her to the ground and attacked her.

The woman was able to fight off the man and flee.

The suspect is described as 19 to 22 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shirt, gray sweat pants and bright red and orange tennis shoes. He also was carrying a black backpack.

Detectives have released a composite sketch of the suspect and ask anyone with information about the man’s identity or the attack to call the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s sexual assault bureau at (916) 874-5115. Tip information also may be submitted anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com by entering the key work “SSD,” or by calling (916) 874-8477.
