The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the identities of two people who were shot Friday afternoon in an apparent murder/suicide near Vineyard Way and Crystal Creek Drive.
Deputies received a call at 1:15 p.m. and arrived at a creek, where they found the bodies of John Barrett, a 72-year-old male, and Janis Barrett, a 56-year-old female. The relationship of the couple has not been determined, though they lived together in a home near the crime scene.
A witness reported hearing a gunshot, turning to see the woman on the ground, then seeing the man shoot himself.
