A Sacramento Superior Court jury today convicted Elias Nicholas Garcia and Roman Lewis Hooker of first-degree murder in the Nov. 12, 2009, pot-robbery shooting death of 47-year-old Donald Kirby in Oak Park.
Judge Eugene L. Balonon scheduled the sentencing on Garcia, 26, and Hooker, 27, for March 28. The two are facing life terms with no chance of parole for the special-circumstance killing that took place during the course of a robbery.
Witnesses said that Garcia planned the robbery and shot Kirby, 47, in the face at the front door of the victim’s apartment in the 3300 block of V Street, with co-defendant Hooker right behind him.
