Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews were kept busy putting out two fires Monday night – one in Rio Linda, the other in Arden Arcade.
The first fire was reported at about 5 p.m. in the 7300 block of Dry Creek Road in Rio Linda. Arriving crews found a barn and a trailer on fire.
Both the barn and trailer were destroyed, but firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to a house. Total loss was estimated to be $55,000.
A Ford Model A vehicle was destroyed in the barn. Cause of the fire has not been determined.
In the second fire, which occurred at around 10 p.m. in the 700 block of Fulton Avenue, crews arrived to find a home and a detached garage on fire. The garage eventually collapsed from flames.
Firefighters focused their attention on the residence, lessening damage to the home. Total damage was estimated at $200,000.
The fire has been determined to be suspicious.
