Pedestrian killed in Placer County crash identified

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has identified the pedestrian who died after being hit by a truck Tuesday night when he was walking on Highway 49 north of Auburn.
He was identified as Jessie Paul Johns, 31, who lived in the Auburn area.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer David Martinez said the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday on southbound Highway 49 near Shale Ridge Lane. Johns was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a pickup, then may have been hit by a other vehicles.
