Lodi police reported that a young person hit and killed by a train Monday may have been intending to commit suicide.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Harney Lane and the railroad tracks about 12:30 p.m. Monday where a “juvenile male” was hit by a train, according to a Lodi police press release. “It appears this may have been a possible suicide,” stated the release.

No name has been released. The northbound train stopped after the pedestrian was struck.
