A Fairfield man has been arrested for allegedly of biting off a portion of his son’s nose because the baby was crying, according to police.
Police said that they received a call from a distraught woman about 8 a.m. Thursday who said that her infant was bleeding from the nose. When officer arrived at the apartment in the 1000 block of Alaska Avenue they found the 1-month-old with a bloody face.
The infant’s father, Joshua Cooper, 18, the child’s 17-year-old mother and other family members were at the home.
The baby was rushed to North Bay Medical Center for treatment. There, doctors determined that the infant not only had a partially severed nose, but also might also suffer from head trauma.

The baby was transferred to Oakland Children’s Hospital. Doctors there determined that the infant had a skull fracture, a brain hemorrhage and that one-third of the child’s nose had been severed.
Cooper was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of child cruelty and aggravated mayhem. The investigation continues into how the brain bleeding and skull fracture occurred, according to a police press release.
