A report that a woman might be inside a vacant commercial building that burned Monday morning turned out to be unfounded.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded at about 1:30 a.m. Monday to 8372 Wilbur Way where fire was burning inside a concrete-walled structure that formerly housed a medical gas supplier.
The fire near Power Inn and Gerber roads grew to three alarms as firefighters successfully worked to contain the blaze to the building where the fire originated.
A man on scene reported that his girlfriend was inside. However, no victims have been found, according to Walt White, assistant chief at Sac Metro.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The building was a total loss.
