The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has released the name of a man killed Sunday when his pickup hit a tree, a street sign and a house in the Fair Oaks.
Coroner’s deputies identified the driver as Dustin Scott Haywood, 31, of Fair Oaks.
The California Highway Patrol said that Haywood was driving his pickup on Phoenix Avenue approaching the intersection of Illinois Avenue about 6:35 a.m. Sunday when he failed to stop.
The pickup traveled across Illinois Avenue and crashed into a street sign and a tree. The pickup then continued out of control and spun in a counter-clockwise direction before crashing into a house on the east side of Illinois Avenue.
Haywood, who was wearing a seat belt, was pinned in the vehicle. Fire department personnel extricated Haywood from the pickup and transported him to Mercy San Juan Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The crash is under investigation and speed may be a factor, according to a CHP press release.
