A small dog died in a Wednesday morning fire that caused major damage to a mobile home in Rancho Cordova.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded just before 10 a.m. to a report of a residential fire on Sheri Ridge Way. While en route, they could see a large column of smoke indicating a well-involved fire, according to a district news release.
Firefighters arrived and searched the mobile home for occupants. During the search, they found a small dog. Firefighters administered oxygen in an attempt to resuscitate the animal but were unable to revive the dog, fire officials said.
The mobile home sustained major damage, but crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
