A 28-year-old man wanted on a felony warrant was shot by law enforcement officers after he reportedly tried to hit officers with his car.

Sacramento police spokeswoman Officer Michele Gigante said police officers and Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies found the suspect in a vehicle in the parking lot of an AM-PM market in the area of 65th street and Fourth Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. Officers stopped the car and were making contact with the suspect, when he attempted to ram or hit the officers, Gigante said.

Fearing for their safety, both a police officer and a sheriff’s deputy shot at the suspect, who was struck multiple times, she said.

She said the suspect was taken to a hospital, but no information on his condition was available.

A 17-year-old girl who as a passenger in the suspect’s car was not injured, Gigante said, and no officers were injured.

Police warn of traffic delays in the area.
